Week 2.11: Putting Things to Right

Week 2.11: Putting Things to Right is a reminder to myself that being behind is okay. I'm still in the game, and that's what truly matters in the end. The reason I chose this photo is because I've been having a bit of an extended Christmas since my move in July. The apartment isn't where I want it to be...but it's home.

In unpacking I've found all manner of treasure buried beneath bubble wrap and packing paper. Opening this Aloha International box and paper was one of my favorite "presents." Inside was a hand-painted oil reproduction of VanGogh's Cafe Terrace at Night (one of my favorite gifts I've ever been given...I painted a wall "pumpkin orange" to better showcase the painting), an original painting of the NaPali Coast by none other than Fred Doty and an original painting of Hanalei Pier by the great Camile Fontaine.

Such great art.Such great memories. Such great buried treasures finally seeing the light of day...something that hasn't happened since I had my life packed up into a crate and shipped back to the mainland from the Baumgartner's garage in 2005.

Thank you Aloha International Movers for allowing me a season of Putting Things to Right. For a girl with near chaos swirling round her more than she likes, the opportunity to find a little spot of restoration and resurfaced treasures makes Putting Things to Right profoundly meaningful.

Operation under false pretenses is virtually impossible. My imperfections argue too loudly and at nearly every turn. But then I spend a morning tidying up or my African violet buds and then blooms...my VanGogh is put in a place where it can be admired...my friend who thought she didn't have my "new" phone number stumbles across it...I find a space in my life of Putting Things to Right. And while all is not right with the world, I know my world is a little bit better, a little bit brighter. Not perfect, but glorious all the same, and maybe it's because the sunlight filters through the dust anyway.

Love you, Sarah. Hope you're well. Missed seeing you while I was in town. I'm glad I at least got to see your magic eyes for a few seconds in person! Thinking of you.

Hello, Dista! I love this one. I hope that you have a great trip in SC. If you end up married to Josh Radin when you come home... I will understand and love you all the more! Just let him be the next great piece of art!
