Week 19: Intergalactical Face

First off, I have to thank my father for telling me I needed to go outside and see this Intergalatical Face for myself (although he didn't call it that)...and I have to thank my Butterfly sister-in-law for asking me to try to take a picture of it...and finally I have to thank Joey: for laughing at it when he saw it...

If I am not mistaken, you are seeing our moon as well as Jupiter and Saturn. Whatever else you see, I leave to your imagination...and of course, the title of this week's blog.

I love the night sky. I love the stars and the planets and the moon...I love the velvety black and the celestial halos. I love how small I always feel when I gaze heavenward. I love the perspective it always brings me...

And I am in desperate need of perspective this week. Fourteen small, tiny days until finals are due. Fourteen little pearls in a looong strand that has consumed the majority of my life the last two years.

And still the sun shines. The moon glows. Stars sparkle and shine.

Why?

Let me first share a 19th Century Chinese proverb I read this week:
"A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song."

I think the sun shines and the moon glows and stars sparkle and birds sing because they have God behind them and in them. Not that they are the answer, but they point to the answer.

Oh, how easily I forget. How quickly perspective is lost in this chaotic, overwhelming, demanding and discouraging world.

In these next two weeks, I will be challenged like never before. I hope I can triumphantly shine, glow, sparkle and sing because I have a song...even if I don't have all the answers.
