Week 2.24: Phrases to Live By

Week 2.24: Phrases to Live By was photographed back in August. I admit this with a good measure of shame since it was promised to my friend for his birthday...which is in the first week of August.

A series of unfortunate events led to his early departure back to Amarillo without having seen me or this lovely little cupcake I had purchased for him. We made a deal: I could buy another the next time he was in town. In the meantime, I was to photograph said cupcake and send him a photo before I ate the yummy.

Well, I kept the first half of that promise. And now, I'm trying to keep the second half. So: Happy Birthday, Kyle! Isn't your cupcake darling on top of my Frenchy cafe plates?!?!

I also chose this photo for this week because: 1. It's pink, and it's still February...which seems to call for pink on all days. 2. Pink is one of my favorite colors. 3. Pink is Kyle's favorite color. 4. We all need a treat sometimes.

On a personal level, I'm coming to a crackdown on myself. It's time. I've been a bit scattered. I've been a bit too indulgent. I've got a lot ahead of me and I need to be ready. Rather than beat myself up for where I'm not, I'm choosing the positive approach.

Keep going. Keep doing. Baby steps. You've done this before; you can do this again. Etc.

Along the lines of encouragement and a reminder that we're all rowing this thing together, I'd like to share Phrases to Live By by Sheila Saputo, my dear Rosie Thomas's alter ego. As I have mentioned previously, Rosie is an insanely beautiful singer/song writer with a series of albums to be reckoned with...especially if you need to plumb the depths of your emotions and are overdue for a good cry. Here's a link to her song Red Rover. Beautiful.

At the same time, Rosie has a very zany sense of humor that she expresses through her alter ego, Sheila. Sheila suffered a terrible accident that she cannot remember, but she's not going down for the count. She's out to make up for the time she was hospitalized/in a coma by living life to the fullest. Here are Sheila Saputo's Phrases to Live By:

1. Keep on keepin' on.
2. Never let 'em see ya sweat.
3. Dance until no one's watching.
4. Move like the wind is at your back at all times.
5. Run against the wind...And, it's hard, I'll tell ya; Iv'e done it, and it's hard. But, running, it keeps you ready. It keeps your skin toned or you toned.
6. Hug 'em if you got 'em. Hug anything.
7. Sing like you're on stage at all times.
8. And, I like the phrase: It doesn't hurt to try. Sometimes it does hurt to try. But then, the pain goes away, too, after a few months of rehab.

You can click to watcht the YouTube video: here. I'm warning you. It's weird. But it makes me laugh every time I watch it. :)
