I am inspired again by a common person with uncommon beauty...beauty I found on a common blog...and so you see: Week Fourteen: Common People, Uncommon Beauty II.

Basically, I found this photo on a blog while searching for images related to "Kazoo Fest"...for an assignment I'm working on for school...In a very convoluted sea of imagery (somehow unrelated to the search I was performing), I saw the thumbnail of this picture and was compelled to click on it.
The blog, written by Jolene (no last name) is devoted to reviews of performing arts in the Northern California Bay Area. The title under the photo reads: "Nina Ananiashvili in Alexei Ratmansky’s Bizet Variations." Apparently this is the State Ballet of Georgia's company that performed in San Francisco.
Jolene thought the performance was middling at best...I suppose she knows more than me since she has quite a list of performances under her belt and she is very aware of things that would escape my untrained eye...But my photographic eye was impressed.
This Georgian girl (and not Georgia the southern state in the USA)...is probably one among many who are spending their lives training to be professional dancers. She's probably danced on stages across the world. She's given countless hours to her art.
And the person behind the camera lens caught a moment: mid-air, mid-story, mid-life. In a mostly dark theater with dimmed blue lighting, the photographer captured grace and passion and dedication. In the blink of an eye most people probably missed this uncommon beauty, but a photographer got it.
I want to be able to recognize that moment better. To know my craft and to be so skilled that I am able to capture just such a fleeting moment so entirely full of glory. I've got a long way to go...
Because I believe credit should be given where credit is due, I'm giving you the link for where I found this photo... http://www.saturdaymatineeblog.com/2008/02/
