Week Eight: Still

This picture was taken at the end of a very looong day turned late evening...a very beautiful wedding I had the pleasure of photographing. Initially I had a different photo in mind for Week Eight: Still.

...But then when I looked at the first photo longer, it just wasn't right. Somehow this little glass cake topper fits better...In a room full of people, full of celebration, full of hope...This still couple, frozen in time speaks to a loneliness with which I am slightly familiar.

For those of you hoping for something funny and/or lighthearted this week, I refer you to Week Two, which has overwhelmingly been nominated as a favorite thus far in my Project 52... For those willing to brave what is definitely my most profoundly vulnerable post to date, read on...

“I Still”

I still remember the glint
of sparkling eye
The resonance of laughter

I still love the hands
that made mine feel
The reassurance of strength

I still feel the need
to reach out for
The presence of romance

I still want the shoulders
that let me cry
The constant of commitment

I still wonder the absence
of laughing heart
The impishness of play

I still wish the return
that makes me feel
The restoration of stolen

I still dream the smile
that draws lines on
The cheek does so for me

I still hope the call comes

to say that all
The devastation is done

I still remember the love
feel, want, wonder
Wish, dream, and hope

...for you

I know the point is photography- and good photo! But for me, this week, the writing blew it all away-- from one poet to another-- a masterpiece! Unable to be duplicated.
