Week 3.4: Happy Place

Week 3.4: Happy Place might be getting a bit ahead of things...but I have to find something that reminds me of wonderful summer sooner than later. This photo was taken at the height of summer in my home town. Today is not wonderful summer...it is blustery spring with too much of all seasons in one day.

I do not love spring. I do not like constant sneezing. I do not like gale force winds. I do not like bright mornings that turn into ominous clouds carrying odd mixtures of rain and/or sleet and/or snow. I do not love the unpredictable fits and bouts of dust and sprinkles of indeterminate moisture.

I DO like that summer comes after spring is done changing its mind a million times.

Summer and heat and long rays of daylight and hot pavement under my feet and tanned skin are my Happy Place. And even though I might be getting a bit ahead of things, I know it's coming and I am looking forward to it!

Good thing I have lots of Happy Place in my mind and in my life. Love of life and family and friends and laughter...See, a Happy Place isn't strictly location. In fact, it's often not a location.

It's a good book, or a good laugh, or a good conversation, or a good friend's voice, or the knowledge that seasons change, or the smell of coffee brewing, or the sound of someone else mowing their lawn, or a photo of a time and place that bring back a warm memory...It's a Happy Place.

PS This post was not directed at my island home, forever a Happy Place to me...where I absolutely favorite spring!
